Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Comedy Company
"Concert parties had existed in the British Expeditionary Force before the Canadian Division began their own.... but the idea of a permanent or semi-permanent Canadian concert party germinated within the PPCLI. And in May 1916, at the request of Captain Agar Adamson, the PPCLI Comedy Company with Jack McLaren as its chief comedy sketch artist became the first semi-permanent company of soldiers to be relieved of their duty in order to entertain Canadian soldiers along the Western Front." ~ Edited from Soldiers of Song, 2012 by Jason Wilson.
