On The Front Lines - World War One
Many men and women from Huron County enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force as soldiers and nurses. In December 1915, the 161st Huron Battalion was form, and a recruitment campaign took place in the County from January until the end of the May in 1916.
While overseas, many soldiers wrote home to tell their family and friends about their experience in the war. For many Huron County soldiers and nurses, this was their first time overseas.
