Urban Farming

Personal or household gardens and urban agriculture have gained popularity in recent years. It is not a new concept since for generations people have had their own gardens and own “hobby” farms of a few animals on a small acreage.

What is new is increased urbanization and the interest of consumers to connect directly with the land and production. Motivators include health, environmental sustainability, and food security. Backyard gardens, community gardens, and container gardens are just a few of the ways people can maintain their connection with the land.
