Moving the Locomotive
Engine #6275 was kept at Goderich for a long period of time because of a very sharp curve at the harbour. It was retired from active service in December 1958 after 45 years of continuous service in yard work, mostly at Goderich.
The engine was moved to the Huron County Museum in May 1959. Notes from Curator Mr. Neill's diary include the following:
"May 7, 1959 - paid for engine 3800.00 to day and it was brought up to Edwards coal yard. I had a ride up the hill.
May 8 - run it back over the switch and got it past the coal shed by night.
May 9 - we got it across the highway by 10 at night"
